Meet The Artists |
Jiyoung Lee,
cellist
Korean
cellist Jiyoung Lee is known for her passionate interpretations,
musical depth and sensitive performances. As a soloist, her
performance credits include such orchestras as Korea’s Seoul
Symphony Orchestra, New York’s Hudson Valley Philharmonic and
New Jersey’s Bergen Philharmonic. An avid chamber musician, she
has played at numerous festivals, including Ravinia’s Steans
Music Institute, Music at Menlo, La Jolla Summer Fest, Music
From Angel Fire, Perlman Music Program, Sarasota Music Festival,
Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland, Seiji Ozawa Academy in
Switzerland, and the Great Mountain International Festival,
Korea.
Ms. Lee’s honors and awards include: winner, the New York
International Artist Association 2014; winner, the Bergen
Philharmonic Young Artist Competition; 2nd Prize, the Alice and
Eleonore Schoenfeld Competition, Harbin, China; winner, The 2012
Juilliard Schumann Concerto Competition; winner, the 2012 Hudson
Valley Philharmonic String Competition, and 2nd Prize, the 2012
Hellam Young Artist Competition, Springfield, MO.
Her recent solo performances include Lincoln Center’s Wednesday
at One series in Alice Tully, two solo recitals at New York
City’s Harvard Club, and Korea Society. Chamber music
performances include appearances at Victoria Hall in Geneva,
Lincoln Center’s Wednesday at One series in New York, New York
City’s Fall for Dance, Caramoor Evning Rising Star Series, Music
at Menlo Winter Residency.
Lee holds her Bachelor’s Degree from the Curtis Institute of
Music as a student of Peter Wiley, and her Master’s Degree from
The Juilliard School as a student of Timothy Eddy. She also
received the Artist Diploma at The Juilliard School studying
with Joel Krosnick. Currently, Jiyoung is pursuing her doctoral
degree in Musical Arts at the New England Conservatory with
Laurence Lesser.
Iris Hsu,

Taiwanese-American Iris Hsu is a prizewinner of the Los Angeles
International Liszt Competition, as well as the Baltimore Music
Club, Pacific Musical Society, and Ross McKee Competitions. She
made her solo recital debut at the age of twelve, playing an
all-Chopin program including the Second Piano Concerto with the
Palo Alto Philharmonic at the Mountain View Performing Arts
Center in Mountain View, California. As an active solo and
chamber musician, she has since appeared as soloist with the
Fremont Symphony Orchestra and given performances throughout the
United States, Canada, Holland, Italy, and Spain.
Ms. Hsu has performed in master classes with numerous renowned
artists including Leon Fleisher, Boris Berman, Ann Schein,
Menahem Pressler, Roy Howat, Leslie Howard, Jura Margulis, and
Victor Rosenbaum. In past summers, she had the opportunity to
work with Robert McDonald, Julian Martin, Mikhail Voskresensky,
Mack McCray, Angela Cheng, Alvin Chow, and Marc Durand at the
International Holland Music Sessions, Zephyr International
Chamber Music Festival, Banff Centre Piano Master Class Program,
Millennium International Piano Festival, and Boston University
Tanglewood Institute. She is a scholarship recipient of the Mack
McCray Foundation, Lime Kiln Foundation, and Bay Area Steinway
Society.
Ms. Hsu was born in New York and began her piano studies when
she was three years old, studying primarily with Li-shan Hung in
Mountain View, California. She received her Bachelor of Music
degree from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins
University under the tutelage of Boris Slutsky. Subsequently,
she received her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard
School, where she studied with Matti Raekallio and was awarded a
teaching fellowship to serve as faculty in the piano minor
department. She is continuing her studies at Peabody with
Professor Slutsky as a candidate in the Doctor of Musical Arts
program. |
