The
evening will open with a performance of Albert Schweitzer Portrait, LSO's
new work featuring the words and inspiration of Dr. Albert Schweitzer, set
to music by Gene Scheer, composer for Ken Burns' film The War.
The concert will also feature a young virtuoso performing Maurice Ravel's
Piano Concerto in G Major, with the winner of the 2009 concerto
competition for the Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts.
