Andy Tsai, Violin and Viola
Born in New Haven Connecticut and inspired by his uncle, violinist
Nai-Yuan Hu, Grand Prize Winner of the prestigious Queen Elizabeth
Competition, Andy began his violin studies at the age of 4. He first
appeared on national television at the age of 5. He is winner of numerous
competitions including the Boston Classical Orchestra Youth Concerto
competition, Chinese Concerto competition, Lexington High competition, and
the String Department Special Award from the New England Conservatory.
Andy has appeared many times as violin soloist with the Lexington
Sinfonietta, Lexington Chamber Orchestra, and Colorado String in the
Mountains Orchestra. In Taiwan he performed as soloist with the North
American Elite Youth Orchestra which was broadcast over national radio and
television. Andy also regularly participates in chamber music festivals
such as the International Music Festival, Kniesal Hall, and Yellow Barn.
In May of 1999 Andy received his Bachelor of Music Degree, studying
violin with Eric Rosenblith, from the New England Conservatory. His previous
teachers includes Vyacheslav Uritsky, Roman Totenberg, and James Dunham. In
the coming fall, Andy will pursue his Masters Degree at Boston University,
studying viola with Steve Ansell.
Andrew Goodridge, piano
Andrew Goodridge grew up in New York City, where he studied piano with Lisa
Grad. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, while
studying piano with Leslie Amper at the Longy School of Music. Immediately
after Harvard he completed a two-year Masters program at the New England
Conservatory of Music, studying with Patricia Zander. He has had extensive
experience in chamber music performance, both while at Harvard and N.E.C., as
well as with the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program, the Kneissel
Hall summer festival in Blue Hill, Maine, where he studied with Artur Balsam,
and most recently, the International Musical Arts Institute, directed by Eric
Rosenblith. Mr. Goodridge is currently a free-lance accompanist in the
Boston area. In September of 1996, he returned to the New England
Conservatory of Music to pursue a doctoral degree in collaborative piano, as
a student of Irma Vallecillo and Kayo Iwama.
